Described as “an art experiment” and initiated at the end of 2010: A community of artists have taken ownership of a swan pedal boat and will attempt to operate it in accordance with the ethic of the open source software movement.

Since we started this adventure the swan has been operated as a pirate radio station – hosting interviews with international sound-art stars and local political figures. She has been used by the BBC to raise £55,000 for charity – traveling from Liverpool to Leeds along the canals.  And more recently, Grace (as she is known) has been the stage for operatic performances and we have begun awarding Swan Pedalo Driving Licences.
